Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides held talks with his British counterpart Boris Johnson while in New York attending the UN General Assembly on Wednesday.
Both officials discussed the Cyprus Problem and the UK’s decision to leave the European Union following the Brexit vote.
Not long after the UN General Assembly concludes on Sunday, Boris Johnson is set to talk about Cyprus at our Conservative Party conference reception on 2nd October – more details can be read here.
Before that, however, official talks between Cyprus and the UK will continue on Sunday when President Nicos Anastasiades will depart New York for London where he is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Theresa May.
Cyprus has been divided since 1974 when Turkey invaded and illegally occupied the island’s northern third.
