Cyprus’ Finance Minister and the Conservative Friends of Cyprus discuss joint steps to bolster UK-Cyprus ties
Cypriot Finance Minister, Mr Harris Georgiades met with Board Members of the Conservative Friends of Cyprus during his visit to London on Wednesday, 12 July, on the fringes of a conference aimed an event promoting British investment in Cyprus held at Bloomberg’s London Headquarters, with the Minister delivering the keynote speech. The event was co-hosted by Bloomberg and Invest Cyprus.
During their discussions CFCyprus officials reiterated the historic and close trade and commercial ties between the UK and Cyprus.
As Mr Georgiades stated in his speech, the two countries cultural resemblances, a similar legal system, a sizeable and active Cypriot community in the UK and share other features which have promoted and continue to promote commercial relations. The Minister added, with regards to Brexit, that the very positive potential role of Cyprus could serve as a connecting link with the European Union, especially as the two countries will continue to formally work closely together due to their Commonwealth membership.
The Minister and CFCyprus agreed to consider initiatives that could further bolster bilateral contact and commercial activities between the two countries.
